My Passion
As a little girl growing up on the island of Grenada, I was fascinated by the stories my
grandmother told. She called them Nancy Stories. All the kids in the neighborhood gathered around to listen to her telling Nancy Stories on nights when we did not have to go to school the following day. On most occasions by the time she was finished we were all trembling in our boots, afraid to move. Yet we could not resist hearing her tell those stories. I thought she was the best story teller I knew. She was able to make us feel like we were part of the story.
Experiencing the emotions of the characters, walking where they walked and most of all trying to imagine how we ourselves would handle the situation with which the characters were faced. Needless to say, her Nancy Stories were thought provoking and teachable.
In writing my books, this is what I hope to accomplish. I would like to hear my readers say that they stayed up all night reading because they could not put the book down. I want to hear them say that what they read helped them to change something about themselves that they did not know needed to be changed. I want my readers to be empowered by the characters believing that they too, can do anything under any and all circumstances, never giving up no matter the situation.
My writing is geared to encourage and motivate my readers to take a chance even if they think the chance is not worth taking, and people are screaming, ‘it is too risky’. One will never know the outcome of that so called impossible dream until he/she acts upon it. The impossible is achieved when we refuse to see it as an impossibility.
My most favorite dog in the World - Max!
