As a little girl growing up on the island of Grenada, I was fascinated by the stories my grandmother told. She called them Nancy Stories. All the kids in the neighborhood gathered around to listen to her telling Nancy Stories on nights when we did not have to go to school the following day.
On most occasions by the time she was finished we were all trembling in our boots, afraid to move. Yet we could not resist hearing her tell those stories. I thought she was the best story teller I knew. She was able to make us feel like we were part of the story.
Experiencing the emotions of the characters, walking where they walked and most of all trying to imagine how we ourselves would handle the situation with which the characters were faced. Needless to say, her Nancy Stories were thought provoking and teachable. Read More...
